Messages of welcome for New Americans

Last week, we were honored to attend a naturalization ceremony at the International Institute of Minnesota and deliver the postcards you wrote at the Green Gifts Fair in support of New Americans in our community.

Studying for the U.S. citizenship test is incredibly time consuming, especially when you need to learn English to do so. Passing the test is a huge achievement.

This sweet little boy had a handful of flags in support of his mom as she took the oath of citizenship.

While studying for the citizenship test, many New Americans create lifelong friendships with their classmates from different countries just like these two.

Originally, postcards were going to be put on everyone's chair as a pre-ceremony welcome, but so many friends and families came in support of this milestone, the cards were handed out while New Americans waited in line to get their photo with the judge.
